I like my convection toaster oven for heating things up... Sure it takes an extra few minutes but the food is hot all the way through. I hate how microwaves make the food 1/2 cold and 1/2 hot....
Also I found that without a microwave, I am way less likely to eat crappy processed meals and way less likely to nuke coffee all day long..
Way to many bad dietary habits develop with a microwave around.
I can wait an extra 10 minutes for my spaghetti to heat up in the toaster oven.

Is that the fault of the toaster oven or the toaster-oven-er? The new toaster ovens have digital timers as well so you can just set it and walk away, much like the microwave OVENS

Took my first stab at the defrost function this evening. Forgot to thaw a couple hamburg bunz for my chicken thigh'n cheddar sammiches.

Gave them the usual 14 seconds ----> was actually not enough. Needed another 5.

Just when I was ready to relax with my new appliance ----> no, still work to be done.

Ty House...and just to clarify, I am not against microwaves in any way. I just do not like the way they heat most things up...

I used to like to pre-cook baked potatoes in the microwave to cut down on BBQ'ing time... they work really good for that.

Sometimes the turntable turns. Sometimes it does not.

I'm sure there is a reason. Haven't actually stopped and tried to figure it out.

I notice no difference results-wise whether it is rotating or not.

Mine too but I think food could be preventing it from turning but most of the time I ignore it! Food tastes the same to me too!

Given that it makes no difference that I notice, I haven't worried about diagnosing the situation. But it is odd. There is very little variety to what I do with my microwave.

I put in a bunch of food in the middle of a big round plate. Not hanging over the edge or anything. I punch in a time and press start. That's about it.



Maybe now that I'm talking about it, I'll give it some thought.
