I think that books take a side in 2024 more than they used to or at the very least are setting the line with their own very sophisticated models.

I agree with this.

Also, I have no data to back this up but I’ll spit it out:

I don’t think it’s good for business to be on a side that is a bigger favorite than (picking a random number here) -250

At the end of the day, the underdog in that game is made up of players that, against all odds, are so good that they have made it to the major leagues. They are still REALLY good baseball players that want to win (especially when no one thinks they can).

Point well taken, but... where are they when I need them to win? lol

Do you think they look at the odds before the game and they get offended when they're huge dogs? "Man, I can see why we're +175 on an average day, but +300 is SOME BULLSHIT. Let's show them what we're made of today boys. Then we'll take the next 20 games off to recover."
