If you lay -3 -145 instead of -3.5 -110 and they win by 3, you still made the worse bet.

excuse me, but "I" cashed my ticket. who are you to tell "me" that "I" have a worse bet when we bet the same event and "I" cash out when you don't?

:pavy:

BDQH: "We got PK at the Hilton (on the above mentioned game)"
Dr. d: "That line was never PK"
BDQH: "Sure it was, you just don't get the lines we do"
Dr. d: "That line was never PK"
BDQH: "Yes, it was ... our group took it at PK -165"
Dr. d: "lmao"

Vaga, you're not entirely wrong. I went 500 games across 3 sports that I have never done more than a few games in period and managed to show a winning record and a profit. May very well have been chance.

What about you though? You slip in and out of the shadows and take you shots but like so many aren't willing to put yourself out front and run the risk of being exposed. I fail or succeed out in the open. I don't claim to have knowledge about these various concepts and by the questions I ask sometimes it's painfully obvious that I am ignorant to so much, I accept that.

I asked if the pro's tracked what they cost themselves buying points. Matty answered that any basic moron who could compile a spreadsheet could track this data. It was an answer but not an answer to a question I asked.

I asked if the pro's bought points. MonkeyFocker said he doesn't usually buy points which was a question I asked. Matty brought up an odds calculator which is great information but wasn't a question I asked.

I asked if the guys with multiple outs as a side bonus used those outs as a way around needing to buy points. I was given plenty of bullshit, I was given examples of prices but no-one indicated if the question I asked was common practice.

This board has plenty of knowledgeable contributors but often has little patience or tolerance. Unfortunately for this board you also have at least one inquisitive individual who doesn't operate on the same level.

In closing Vaga, fuck you.

Wal, I'll talk capping with you, but I'm just a coinflipper. That's what the math guys call me. One of the biggest reasons I don't go to SBR is the arrogance of many posters when someone asks a legit question. I'm seeing some of that here too. It's too bad.

I don't know who BigBoyDan is and the intent was a serious thread. I saw something about points and started thinking about them so I thought we would discuss various theories and or practices about buying points.

Some don't have multiple accounts so if those that do find lines vary enough to where they don't have to buy points on certain games, is that not an endorsement for having multiple outs? Some may have found over time that buying points hurt their bottom line while others may have benefited from it enough times that it has become common practice. Are these not topics which could be discussed without revealing any trade secrets and actually do a service for individuals who may learn something along the way?

It's why I don't ask questions in the Think Tank.
Anytime FairWarning. Always glad to talk angles, stats, trends, theories, psychology or just what has been seen in previous games.
