Fiver,

Work in the government does count. I have bounced back and forth between the public and private sector since 1992. My last stint was 12 years in the private sector prior to that I had worked 6 years in the government (both municipal and provincial). Put a resume together and have Matty work with ya.

Been back in Government almost a year now and I still get e mails from headhunters in private sector asking me if I would entertain an interview. While I make less in government there are way more benefits like working 37 hours a week rather than 60.

Well I'm going to have to reinvent myself boys. It will be a long road of shitty paying jobs and school but it is something I've been putting off for about, I don't know, 10 years now.

Fiveteamer, I am not sure if this will make you feel better, but I hope it does. About 5 years ago I was working in the South and I pulled my back out. I pulled it so bad, I could not do my job and was let go. I had no degree of any sort and didn't know exactly what direction I was going to go. I wasn't old (I was 27) but I was extremely worried about what my future held. After going over the things I LOVED to do, I made a game plan about how to incorporate these loves with a paying job. 5 years later, I have come a long way from that day laying in bed immobile. It was rough at times, but not nearly as rough as I had anticipated. Lean on your friends and family and take it a day at a time. Have faith in YOU. It will work out sir.

Staying positive. Have meeting with my manager tomorrow morning. Was told that they are trying to find me something. Not keeping my hopes up but who knows. I essentially lost this job because of an administrative error, so unfortunately I have to get in contact with my union.

A once promising looking summer is looking very bleak.

I don't know you FiveTeamer, but as much as it sucks now (and I can imagine how much it does) take time to clear your head and go over your strengths. Believe it or not, even without a degree, jobs are available if you stay focused on your strengths. I am not sure how old you are, but if you are still young, that is always a plus as well. The hardest part about finding another job is doing the legwork. Job hunts are a lot like dating. If you don't get out there and hunt, you will always be without. Rejection may suck, but it's the ONLY way to the eventual reward. Good luck sir. I wish you the best.

so you track a job down on facebook, skype with it, completely lose your shit when she joins a forum and starts fucking the Blister and then you pretend it was all an act?

interesting technique.
