I don't understand what's so terrible about having a job.
Daytime TV is an abomination.

Nothing is terrible about having a job you love. I had a job I loved for years...Then a bunch of assholes bought us and brought in their axe men and corner cutters, and made it a sweatshop environment. And I suffered thru the last two years knowing the end was near because the money was good. It was an actual chore to get out of bed and go there every day. It was a horrible negative environment.I don't understand what's so terrible about having a job.

Not really sure what you are asking Reno, but typical buyout/merger situation. They had their own people at an office in Fort Morgan. It was a smaller private company (200 people?) They closed our Tulsa office completely and let go all the higher ups at the original company and promoted their own people who would work for much less. Lots of shady dealings including them surprise firing our exec VP and owner who had barked about what a great deal this was for the company and let themselves become minority shareholders. There was a lot of shady backstabbing. They let go one sales person who had been there for like 25 years...no notice...no severance...nothing. The same they did to everyone else, but at least we saw it coming..he didn't. They kept a couple people they absolutely needed (mostly IT) , and the one hot chick who kissed their ass and that all the men wanted to sleep with.hmm. tell us more about this job that got ruined. Most everything good I've known gets ruined, they are running out of things to ruin.
What kind of thing was this?
But since that happened, didn't it create a totally hostile work environment? Basically it forced an "us versus them" (new versus old regime) atmosphere and people were constantly in fear of losing their jobs if they didn't suck up.We lost half our workforce over the last 2 years. Last year they brought in an army of MBAs to suck the life out of everything and keep us profitable.
It's just a job. I show up and type stuff. They pay me. I go home.

The only thing that made it fun was my co-workers and the fact that I was well respected and pretty much got away with whatever cuz I made them a lot of money....we were a tight knit group and grew the company together. We didn't make or sell anything. I had a very unique position. I was a collection paralegal and I got my salary plus a big cut of the department revenue. It was a collection firm. We basically sued people who didn't pay their bills and then garnished/levied/liened them etc. There was a front line of maybe 70 regular collectors who called people and mainly were young kids and a lot of turnover and then the various supplemental departments...legal, accounting, i.t., clerical, sales etc. I hate offering that up due to the bad rep of the industry, but we were (at least initially) well respected and by the books kind of place. Now it's a sweatshop.but what field is this in? what did you make, sell or whatever?
and what made it fun?
Such a great flick.
