I just did a quick scan of the front page. Under the stickies there are 30 topics of which ~16 are about sports/industry (subject to some interpretation).

I am less interested in sports than that and would prefer the ratio to be more like 14 out of 30.

Just in case anyone is wondering.

Well, if that seems to be the concensus here, then this site really isn't for me - or the vast majority of people looking to participate in a handicapping forum. If I were interested in an online social network, I'd be on Facebook instead.

I simply like it here because it's a good mix of people. I'm pretty sure I'll like it if it's 100% sports or 100% fluff.

I'm not saying that there aren't quality people here. I just don't see the site going anywhere in terms of traffic if things remain unchanged. Maybe traffic isn't a concern for RJ et. al. I'm not entirely sure. But I do know that most outsiders who come here looking for handicapping topics (since that is the alleged theme here), aren't going to find much of interest to them.

Just posted this in the new GLPOTD strategy thread by Bread. Goes to mainly the serious sports' people who seem to be less happy than the causal sports' people. Thought GLPOTD could be something we could agree on, but maybe not?

Maybe anyone and everyone who wants to put 4-5 whatever amount of plays out like Daft said! All you sports guys where ever you are, put up some play suggestions, please! Also a brief explanation why only to help a voter that might not be familiar with why? If we get everyone involved, say 15-20 posters X 4-5 plays. With this says 80 or so plays total than their has to be some common picks? Hopefully most people are like myself in not caring if my play is picked, just so we get a winner!

GLPOTD can't get any more sports related. Everyone be there with a vote please. We need all the help we can get. The politicians in DC show up to vote more than us. Let's try to get like a 30-35 votes on games instead of the usual 4-5 count vote!

Here's a chance Monday to see who wants to make this place grow by some kind of show of unity support. People here not that big on sports, no problem if you don't give us some plays, just vote please if you can.

What is there, 12 bases and 10-11 NBA games Monday and don't know what else? Maybe everyone post their plays say by 12-2 PM EST? Don't know how we can set up a vote poll to decide the outcome. Possibly too complex in nature but just want to see who truly calls this place home and the turnout we get.

I apologize Arch to you if I offended you, just thought you didn't know the old format and then realize you meant the new one? Fair Warning, appreciate you giving us something since you seem interested. Always watched GG the Dancing Machine as a kid!

MonkeyFocker buddy, just saw your reply post to funny Mudcat in other thread, not trying to start anything, but being what I consider one of the top gamblers here, I expect to see some plays from you. Daft, Jello..... we especially need the serious guys to show up! Archie buddy, you too, I know you know your stuff.

Bread, could you possibly start a GLPOTD thread with ANYONE and EVERYONE on it? Thanks!

True and true.

MrMonkey, the problem with the GLPOTD is that it has little to do with handicapping/betting and more to do with "picking winners" regardless of profitability. I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't participate because it's unworkable with my approach (which lately involves waking up at 4am to hit some early MLB lines).

In all honestly, it does seem like a hard thing to coordinate anyway. Fair enough, 1 vote to stop the GLPOTD! Thanks Matty for a response, good or bad, it is needed.

I didn't vote for it to be stopped at all. There's probably ways to make it work, including one suggestion I read earlier today... basically, the elected "picker" is given a choice of 4-5 plays and he has to select one.

I'm interested in hearing whatever emotions, experiences, creative ideas my fellow gamblers have. Gambling related or not.
Discussing handicapping ideas is great. But good ideas are rare and hard to come by. Unless you have a great methodology, posting picks and discussing games is just a road to negative expectancy.

Whenever somebody notices a good play, book, or offer, it does get posted. And I believe that's good enough.

And when there is increased traffic, people will complain about the idiots that came with the increased traffic.

Will never ever ever make everyone happy. This why I drink.

Probably also why I'm a losing gambler, but I freely admit that.

You are correct sir! I know it sucks to have sports threads and your talking to 1-2 people. I think I started a NFL pick thread and like all my threads, nobody showed up. Then I finally saw one reply. I said wow, and then opened it and it was Dac! Remember him! If I had a loaded gun, I would have blown my brains out. But I didn't, did I? OK, so the gun just wasn't loaded.

But remember over there Cocknocker's bases thread where half their time good posters were chasing away assholes coming in and disrupting it. Wasting alot of good capping time.

Its this kinda banter that i enjoy about this place. Its funny but in a individual manner. Simply being this is the way whereby the 'idiots' that come with increased traffic wil be unable to correlate individualist behaviour with stereotyping and thus "walaa" they lose interest, thus u have yourself the beginning of a recipe for success...:biglaugh:

As for the initial question, id say its only getting stronger and stronger with each passing day :cigar::tank:
