I will definitely have to see this again to get a better grasp on everything. I think you have to remember that all of the worlds (dreams) were made up by The Architect (Ellen Page). They were designed to be able to complete the inception. The whole mission only works if they have a stable real world setting.

Well, Christopher Nolan had the option of making the rules of dreamland whatever he wants. If he wanted the dreams to be more dreamy, he could have. Personally I wish he did.

Sometimes there were little trippy things that happened that had nothing to do with the architect but he chose not to expand on that and, as a result, I thought the dream sequences often looked more like a James Bond movie than dreams.

This movie kinda blew me away a bit and it's been dominating my thoughts.

Fun fun fun. And go see this on the big screen if at all. Some of the fx are ridiculous in my opinion. And the horns omg!! THE HORNS!!!!!

yes.

You know what Inception reminded me of in a way? The Matrix, another film I was less gaga about than the rest of the world.

I mean, Inception is a better film than the Matrix but the similarity for me lies in the (illusion of?) complexity. I read discussions/reviews about them and people are talking about how confusing they are and how they need to see them multiple times to fully understand. I am just the opposite. Yes there is complexity but it is not unfathomable by any means. I get what they are selling right away. It is not necessary for them to keep explaining themselves to me. But they do and they get so serious and grave about it, it starts edging into the realm of unintentional comedy (for me).

Fortunately (unfortunately?) there was no Keanu Reaves striking up Kung Fu poses in Inception.

Amazing. And did you notice how the little spinny top thing that Leonardo uses as his dream cue, does not stop spinning in the final shot. Maybe everything we saw was actually all within another dream!! Imagine that - there might be another level of dreams!

ANOTHER LEVEL OF DREAMS!

There is enough teasy brainfood in there to feed a nerd army for years.

I wasn't meaning it in a speak-down way at all. It was meant as more of a let's chuckle together at some of the Nolan-related lunacy that is going on out there, but I didn't convey that clearly, not by a longshot.

Basically I needed you to pick up my nuances through telepathy.

I can only repeat, your enjoyment will probably depend on your ability to suspend disbelief. If you can buy into what they are selling, it should be a good experience.

I can sometimes suspend disbelief and I knew the basic subject matter and was ready for it, but there was just something about how they were all so serious and insistent that made it unintentionally comical to me.

Could not have said it any better myself. I finally watched this on DVD tonight and I wish I would have watched a High Stakes Poker re-run.
