You couldn't pay me enough to bicycle around NYC. I know WAY too many people that have gotten mangled.

I would say you have a better chance of getting hit on a bicycle in NYC than a motorcycle....the problem with a bike...no power to get yourself out of a bad situation. Not to mention you are much more visible on a motorcycle than you are on a bicycle. You can keep with and even go faster than traffic on a motorcycle.

This is also given that you obey traffic laws on a motorcycle and don't do stupid things like split traffic and carelessly switch lanes.

Well to be the first one to actually answer your question...

If you looking for a great bicycle to ride around town thats solid, rides smooth and you wont have much problems with it i would suggest a TREK.

They go regular price anywhere from 600-1200 but many go on clearance sales where youll find them 30-40% off. I picked up a TREK for 450 bucks you can easily ride 25 mph on it with little effort. They can be pricey but if your looking for a good bike id go with this direction. Even a cheap bike at Target will run you 130-180 so id dish out the extra cash to get a great bike that you wont deal with many flat tires or your bearings wearing out the first time you get water on them.

Timer, I appreciate you responding seriously and maturely, unlike the rest of these idiots.

Coincidentally, I ended up purchasing the Trek 7000 yesterday. Great bike. Looking forward to explore the Bronx, Harlem, staten isle, and other dangerous areas that I can dodge bullets at.

Blitty, that does sound fun.

Timer, thanx for the advice, somehow this sounds like something you know about. Maybe I'll get one of those for next summer.:uteot:
For this season I'll keep riding the piece of shit contraption I put together from two broken down bikes.
