Bateman, this may come as a shock to you, but it's quite common for mendicants (it means beggar) to be objects of scorn and derision. It's rooted in the fact that society in general has a vested interest in forcing people to support themselves. You shouldn't be upset with Coug for calling you out, he was just doing his part to help you realize that playing in a poker freeroll for points when you don't even have enough for the buy-in is a pretty pathetic thing to let your day revolve around.

When one states "I could care less", they usually mean "I could not care less". [e.g. "I could care less about linguistics."]

In order for one to "care less" about a subject, they must first care about it somewhat. Saying "I could care less about ... " does indeed imply, nay dictate, that there is some degree of care.
