I have been taking care of mom..this will be the 3rd summer now. During my time here I have done nothing to the lawn. It doesn't look terrible , but not good could be much better...the scorcher from two years ago basically killed a lot. I know absolutely nothing about lawn care nor have I had the desire to learn. My plan was if I stayed here once mom is gone, I would just start over and resod etc...hire good lawncare people. As I have lived in townhome all my adult life, the association always handled that stuff.

In any case today on the local news they made it seem easy...said put seeds on certain patches and then just put fertilizer over the whole thing. I'm simplifying, but I figure I can handle that. Is there a certain brand you use? Should I have the lawn power raked-whatever that consists of?

The guy that was just here doing spring clean up basically was cleaning up all the mess of leaves that didn't get picked up before the winter snow. I find it hard to believe I can resurrect this lawn...what say you?

I say i need see said lawn...Few years ago I resodded my whole front because of grubs...I added a sprinkler system too cuz thats hiw house do.

Fuckin huge jumpy water slide I rented last year fucked up my front....Fuckin trampoline fucked up my back.

Heard a wood pecker today...

He is next.

May bait a raccoon or possumm with some food tonight and shoot that as well.

That's interesting, I kind of want to put a dead bird out in my yard just to see.

Had a bird bath last year, I think our former cat used it more then the birds. Haven't decided if I will put it out again or not.

IAG I think you should hire someone to do it for you, or to help you at least. I rent so I don't have to worry about that, but I used to watch one of ex's do his lawn every year, lots and lots of work, and not just one of work either, he was out there a lot in the spring.

Iag..

Honestly...Fuckin with grass is alot of work...And seed is expensive...and doesnt always take. 80-100 in seed this year...10 bags of topsoil..

I dont think you'd like it.
Yeah...probably not. I imagine if my bros thought it would, they would have suggested it. I think they agree we need to just start over...too bad...such a nice lawn when dad was alive...oh and we have those things that dig under the lawn so it's all bumpy..you know what I mean? Grubs? something like that.

.

Grubs eat the roots so you can then basicly pick up the grass with no effort. Once you have them...youre done

Well we got em...if it's not those it's something similar. Too bad too..used to be a really nice backyard. I just don't know how much I want to put into the lawn since I don't know what my plan is after mom is gone.

Tough call...another option is for someone to come over and spray the seed down...with the fertilizer and starter and shit to hold the seed in place....its what they use on the side of the road sometimes...cheaper then sod...comes in full...works good.

iga, if the dead spots/dirt are under trees or always in the shade, that shit aint going to take and grow...fuck it... i dont really know what sods well up in that area, but if we want shit to live, its gotta be champion bermuda or bent...thats really about all that will survive in spots that have previously died... of course, our summers are much more brutal than yours too

my shit looks good.. always does.. i have it sprayed 5 times a year and i fertilize a few times...every other yard on the block looks like asshole though... crab grass, onions etc. and the worst is these big purple looking flowerweeds that grow in big patches....its starting to drive me nuts that nobody is taking care of their yard
