Marketing people and Sales people rule the economic world.

When talented we don't have to hump it out in labor we don't have to play retarded office politics we don't have to kiss ass. We close, we make everyone profit and we have a good day and you get what you want. Sure sometimes you might eat a turd because we convinced you it's a jelly bean but in the long run we help you see the light.

Appreciate us for the blessing upon you that we are, end of story.

Even those gambling for a living have to deal with the bad runs and the tilt.

Advertising directly to kids seems especially brutal to me.

I'm glad I don't have to deal with that.

Agree, but is it any different than the CC companies hanging around on college campuses signing up freshmen for easy credit? How about targeting to women knowing they make the majority of the grocery decisions? Its called effective marketing.

Random thoughts:

My first credit card was as a college freshman...Amoco card. I didn't even have a car.

What kind of superbowl would it be without commercials?

I can't think of one thing I have even purchased due to an advertisement. There must be something, but I can't think of anything. I pretty much tune them out.

And FW I have no idea why I quoted you in this.

no you don't tune them out, they influence many of your buying decisions in the supermarket, you may not be aware of it.

What would the Superbowl be without commercials? Just another meaningless game. I always have a couple channels programmed in to my remote that I switch to as soon as the commercials start and a timer set for 5 minutes to get me back to the action.

PBS is by far my favourite American broadcaster, when they aren't begging for spare change.

I honestly don't think they influence me at all. I'm going to have to go think about this. The only thing I can maybe think of is TIDE. That is honestly the only thing I can think of....like if I was in the detergent aisle I would probably buy Tide. In fact I always buy TIDE. And that must have something to do with a lot of Tide commercials somewhere in my past. But that really is the only thing I can think of.

At some point you will want to. We do every kind of purchase as well. I will be waiting to assist you in accomplishing your homo winning goals.

Be prepared to get paid in Canadian pesos.

:redx:

They influence broads the most, cause broads do most of the shopping.

You've been conditioned to respond in a certain way to specific packaging/brands - mostly from commercials you've seen and paid little attention to.

You really believe the advertising companies spend all that money for no return?

They have their ways, just like casinos use colours and layouts to influence/encourage certain behaviour.

Very true - everything from demos to sunday coupons is advertsing. We have a new product line coming out Monday and it is nothing without advertising. My supplier is spending big $$$ advertising on ESPN Mike & Mike show during March Madness. It can be the best thing but you need to create product awareness and then create a want/need for it.

The Super Bowl caters to a different audience so the marketing is totally different. Football purists hate it, but the game is 2nd to the onslaught of marketing - like the Pepsi HT Show. There have been Bruno Mars commercials for 2-3 weeks already.

Fox 2 crime beat is entertaining I'm sure plommer.

Giuseppe I'm numb to the Detroit news nowadays pal. Murders/Rapes/Carjackings/Corrupt City officials are in their news every day.

From watching Detroit network TV I've memorized all the prominent lawyers names and toll free numbers, AND their sales jingles : "Hurt in a car? Call William Mattar" etc. "Get The Bernstein Advantage 1-800 CALL SAM"

etc etc

Fucking lawyer commercials used to drive me insane at first, now I'm used to them too. I also understand why alot of people refer to lawyers as bloodsuckers and ambulance chasers.

Windsor has seen some action recently as well. Some dude is going around unarmed robbing fast food joints and bars at night, they got a good picture of him and it won't be long before someone claims the reward money for turning him in.

In ads for the upcoming Olympics, the network keeps showing this scantily clad female athlete. It is tasteful enough - not slutty - but it is no accident she is scantily clad and my complaint is she does not look good.

Someone thinks she looks good but she doesn't.

Female Olympic athletes in general - at least the very athletic ones ---> not sexy. I mean sure, figure skaters are mostly very lovely - go ahead and show them however you want - but the real hard-trainin' ones ---> kind of disturbing actually. Misshapen.

So that is my primary reaction to this thread. Don't have ads with those chicks in scanty shit. I wish her the best and all that but let's just cover up a bit, okay?

Subliminal advertising is a powerful weapon (and evil when used for purposes pertaining to exploiting people's insecurities)...

Im with reno on this. World would be a better place (and people would feel more comfortable in their own skin) if advertisers/marketing were not a part of the everyday.

Apologees if i offended anybody...

Bought a VTech cordless phone years ago that CR rated as top notch quality! Worst reception ever! Great if some people have be done good by CR but won't even give them a glance! No advertising but who says companies, like a VTech doesn't fork over some money to them? Like years ago music producers would send some cash Dick Clark's or any music stations way to play their songs! Just my rant! FVTech!

IAG unless you've neurologically altered the hardwiring of your brain thats kinda impossible as this clip below explains.

Watched the video...will watch again but as of this moment I am not convinced. Plus it seems like they are mostly talking about impulse buys at the store rather than advertising in its purest form affecting a purchase.
