top 25 means nothing to me when you want to win a national championship...I want you to play and beat top 5 teams.

That's fine, but not really relevant to your original statement that they "haven't exactly been stellar" in big games. They are 1-0 in games against Top-5 opponents, so I'd say 100% is pretty stellar.

If you meant to say "they haven't played in many big games" since then, that's one thing, but I was just pointing out that your initial statement was incorrect.

okay...I will rephrase...they haven't played in many big games... :rotfl: happy?

But how good of a measuring rod is VTech? They have a suck ass record against ranked teams.

I only watched the last 2 minutes or so last night and did notice that every close, subjective call or no call from the refs went Boise's way. And my first thought was "They must have Boise -3". I now think I am being cynical.

Dave I vehemently disagree with your idea that we shouldn't have a playoff because there will be disputes anyway. I've heard it before and it's really pretty stupid.

Of course there will be arguments. there are arguments over who makes the ncaa tournament in basketball. but so what? Poll sports fans and I bet over 90% would agree basketball is a far far far better system than football. In football I'd like a 16 team playoff but if that's not possible then an 8 team playoff. At least then you'd be giving more teams a shot and if they don't make it, they can take the blame. Any team with a really good regular season will make an 8 team playoff. As it is, you can have 3-5 teams with a serious argument for being in the national championship game, and a few teams will be seriously screwed each year. The idea is to give 8 teams or 16 teams a chance at the title instead of just two teams. The current system is grossly unfair and indefensible. The new head of the BCS wrote a column saying it's not a bad system or whatever but I bet even he before he was elected was not arguing in favor of this travesty of a mockery of a sham.

I'm sorry, I don't remember ever saying I was pro-BCS, or that there shouldn't be a playoff. I responded to Flying Dutchman's comment that it would "solve these issues" of controversy. It wouldn't, there will always be controversy. But I didn't say that that was a good reason not to have a playoff.
