How come people ride bikes/take long walks in order to get cancer research donations

Yep. You need events to base it around. It's not financially viable for most charities to have telethons and the like where there is high publicity. Instead, they organize a smaller event that promotes health as a way to gain publicity and drive contributions.

Do they tell you where the money goes? I suppose you would have to pay money to some guys to fart around somewhere. (Because that's what real research is) Probably in the Universities. Then, if any discovery is made it's handed over to private hands so they can make a profit from it.
But all this running around I'm sure raises awareness at least, unfortunately also stress, fear.
