It's hard to say. The HHOF has shown questionable standards over the years. I agree on Nieuwendyk, Andreychuk, Belfour and Gilmour.

I personally would not vote for Neely, Bure and Lindros. They were all good players who left their marks but I think the HOF should be fairly exclusive. But when you've got guys like Clarke Gillies in there, who knows?

Bure is as deserving as Belfour IMO. Guy has two 60-goal seasons (five 50+), Calder trophy (same for Belfour), 6 All-Star selections (same for Belfour), etc. He's one of the most skilled forwards of all-time.

Bernie Federko is another one.

I see I mis-spoke earlier. Neely is already in the HOF. If Neely is in, that looks better for Bure.

I wouldn't vote for either. They had distinguished careers but I would leave it at that. But as anyone who has seen my movie ratings knows, I am not a softy about these things.

Bure to me was not as good as his stats sound (not that his stats are overwhelming). Flashy but lightweight one-way player. Sorry Reno.

At least with Neely you can point to hard-nosed team play. For someone as one-dimensional as Bure to get in, they really need the 500 goals, 1000 points IMO.

Reaction from Philly's fanbase if the Big E makes it would be interesting. Many love what he did for us, many others think he was a big pussy and should have done a lot more. I'm somewhere in between but would like to see him get in.

Gartner has seventeen 30-goal seasons and fifteen straight.

That's my point exactly. Gartner was a 30 goal man. And, I might add, a lot of his career happened during higher scoring times when 30 goals didn't mean what it does today.

But he was never a top goal scorer. He was never a top Hart candidate. He was never a top anything.

He was always just a solid consistent guy who had good health and lasted a long time. There was never a time in his career where you would think of him as a must-have for your fantasy team.

I say a HOFer should be elite. He should be someone who was one of the very best at something for a long time. Gartner never was. He was a guy.

Look, I'm not saying boot Gartner out of the hall. The career numbers are undeniable. Few ever had that kind of decent skill combined with excellent attendance. But I feel there is a reasonable devil's advocate case against him.

While we're on the topic, why the fok is Grant Fuhr in? Guy has craptastic career numbers (3.38, .887), worse than Ron Hextall (2.98, .895) who played in the same era and won as many Cups. Hextall never played for the greatest offensive team of all-time either.

Fok Grant Fuhr in his half-black butt.

EDIT - Hextall never won the Cup. I'm a tard.

Which Cups are those?
