Those tests are stupid. They call me compulsive and I do this for money plain and simple. I don't like it at all, I hate it. Once I have enough money I'll never place another bet.

Agreed. My point was if some zillionaire had a problem, but had so much money that it wasn't really a "problem," many of those questions would not apply (at least not for a good while)

This is exactly how a gambling addict thinks.

Reeto, u sick fukk.

PS: When exactly do you think you'll have enough money?

So you're seeing a shrink?

You do realize we have a number of sudo-councelors available free of charge right here, don't you? Course I must warn you if Plommer tells you to lie back down, close you eyes and relax, there's a good chance he's looking up your skirt.
Are you one of these? I figure I have at least 10 min coming with that donation. Hey maybe there's your fundraiser. You can be like Lucy with the "Psychiatric Help" sign.

You've got 1 free full session coming. Choose wisely though cause it's best to focus on a particular addiction and I'm fairly certain there are multiples from which to choose. We could get right to the core issue which is compulsive behavior but that will surely take more then you loan freebie at which point you'll have to choose between further donations or being the first GameLive female to expose your boobs for our viewing pleasure.

Let me balance my checkbook and I'll get back to you. Oh, and as I understand it new FB friends get a free full session as well. I was sure I read that somewhere. I don't look at them as compulsive behaviors as much as bad habits, so these "bad habits" will not be the subject of our therapy session(s.)

No. I've got a note on my file too (not about gambling). Whenever I go to the hospital I'm classified as one of those people.

I don't condone lying to doctors since they're there to help you but had I known about this I would've lied. Some doctors are very condescending.
THIS.

I am thinking about changing entire health systems because I feel like anytime anyone pulls up my name, HISTORY OF NARCOTIC ADDICTION stands out on my chart. I have always been forthright with my doctors, but I am really getting the feeling that this is causing a compromise in my healthcare. There is no asterisk that says "sought treatment of her own accord," or "turned down attempts to give continued prescriptions," or "has legitimate back/pain issues." Now if someone wanted to dig really deep, they may be able to find this, but prima facie I am labeled and if I had it to do over, I would have never told my doctors here about any of that. With Obamacare, it's better as insurance companies cannot discriminate based on pre-existing conditions, but that doesn't prevent doctors from doing so.

As long as I know I can be responsible for myself in matters of pain management, I am not risking not getting appropriate relief due to the medical community's current fear of the DEA.

Did your doctor refer you to the therapist or did you sign a release for them to share information?

As for addictive gambling, the diagnosis at the time it was given would have actually been pathological gambling, which would have been a differentiation between impulse and addiction (at the time, they should have been working with the last diagnostic manual).

If anyone here qualifies for pathological gambling, I would have nailed Casper.

I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure it said "history of compulsive gambling." That's almost worst than the narcotic addiction which could be asterisked away as noted above if necessary.

Teela-tell me what you do again? Are you a teacher? A psychologist? A child psychologist?

Oh and both doctors work for the same health system so I am sure I signed something agreeing to release of information. Actually, the primary doc was the one who referred me. I always sign those HIPPA forms without even thinking of how it might affect me down the line though. That will stop now.

Pathological Gambling is diagnosed through five or more of these criteria (I'm paraphrasing them):

1. preoccupation with gambling
2. needs to gamble with increasing amounts of money in order to achieve the desired excitement
3. repeated unsuccessful attempts to control, cut back, stop
4. restless/irritable at the attempt to control, cut back, stop
5. gambles to escape problems or to relieve dysphoric mood
6. after losing money, returns to get even
7. lies to family, therapist, others to conceal extent of involvement with gambling
8. committed illegal acts to finance gambling (embezzlement, forgery, family theft)
9. jeopardized or lost significant relationship, employment, education or career opportunity due to gambling
10. relies on others to provide money to relieve desperate financial situation caused by gambling

Ok, well maybe I AM pathological. 1-not sure what preoccupied means in this sense. I don't think about it constantly but I do think about it. 2. yes,at times. 3. not really 4. no. 5. yes 6. yes 7 once 8 never 9. never 10 never I think it's a close call going strictly on these criteria. I certainly don't feel the need to go to the casino in town and I don't feel compelled to play everyday...I like to cuz it's fun and I've been winning, but doesn't feel like a COMPULSION. I don't know. Call it a compulsion. I call it a hobby.
