I watched it in a foreign language per Plommer link, so I was not at all influenced by the commentators, and I'm a little surprised how most thought it was a great fight. I mean the greatest boxer ran around taking shots and turning his back on a stiff who didn't even look to have a proper boxing stance, for 6 rounds. I guess peoples expectations for ppv has gotten pretty low

It wasn't the fight of the year but it didn't suck nearly as much as I thought it would. Mayweather, save for those two turtleshell moments (which he really should've been warned about and/or penalized for), actually came forward instead of fighting while backing away like he usually does. McGregor was faster than expected and he was able to land regularly, including one crunching uppercut that snapped Floyd's head back. And then starting with the 8th round, you could sense the urgency in Floyd's tactics - he really wanted to put him away and he didn't care about getting hit while doing so.

The O/U on the # of landed punches by McGregor was 29.5 at Pinny - he landed 111 according to the Compubox button-pushers.

It was a surprisingly good fight, assuming that your expectations were low to begin with.

The Davis/Fonseca fight was also good. Fonseca was a 17/1 underdog and he was frustrating Davis all night until he got rocked and then put down with that illegal punch to the back of the head. He would've lost anyway but he made it intriguing.

Now if you want to make the argument that $100 was highway robbery for this card, then sure. But neither you or I spent a cent on it. :guitar:

I know he's 50-0 but few consider him the greatest boxer.
