Hey guys and gals,

Just thought i'd pop in and update the recovery. The great news is that i'm being discharged from the hospital on Friday. I will continue my rehab but from the comfort of my own house rather than the hospital. I was very unfortunate in getting this but extremely fortunate in my recovery as nobody in this hospital anyway, has ever been discharged less than two months after arriving with GBS. In fact the last person in here with this never regained her ability to walk and she was in her 20's so I am very grateful. I have fully functional limbs, just building my strength up, especially in my legs which will take some more time, but a 100% recovery appears in the cards.

Thanks again for all the kind words of encouragement.

Great news CK

Hey all,

First off I want to thank all of you guys and gals for your positive thoughts and kind words. Dealing with this, i can use all the positive vibes I can get. Also want to thank AJ for letting you guys know what happened. I've been in here almost 3 weeks now and in the last few days i have regained enough movement in my fingers to one finger type messages out. I still am not able to walk and struggle to lift my arms over my head but every day i can do something i couldn't do yesterday. My recovery has been fast considering where i was 10 days ago and doctors are hoping for a much quicker recovery than what was initially figured. The best news is that the neurologist signed off on me today saying that i will make a full recovery and that there will be no permanent damage. I have started therapy and at this point just need to build up strength in all the areas that were affected. My goal and hope is to walk out of this hospital within weeks instead of months. I'll check in from time to time since i can now (slowly) type and update those who wish to know on my progress. Thanks again to all.

Cobra: Great to see you back in business! I'm happy your condition improved as quickly as it did.

Can you imagine having had to type your posts using only your erect penis? That would be a drag.

good to hear Cobra. When you were paralyzed, could you fell anything, pain etc..?

I could feel sensation, though it wasn't near perfect. If someone touched my foot I could feel it, I just couldn't move it. The same with everywhere else. However, if my legs weren't moved for an extended period of time they would fall asleep, but where normally you could move them to wake them up, I couldn't do this. And the weird part about when this happened was that my brain would disassociate where my feet were, to where they should be. In other words, my eyes would tell me that my feet were in one spot, but my brain was telling me that they were in an entirely different spot and that disconnect was the weirdest feeling of all. To look down and see what are clearly your feet, yet your brain is saying 'nope can't be mine'. Not fun. Thankfully getting them moved would wake them up and eliminate this. And thankfully at no point did i feel any physical pain.
I am hoping to get out today instead of tomorrow once i'm done therapy for the day. Have hated missing the start of the ball season.
