IAG your threads are too earnest.

I don't know that you'll ever get it.
I'm won't argue that , although I think sometimes you don't think certain of my threads are "earnest" when they are anything but.

And all I'm saying here,is that there was a prequel to the food thread...the same exact thread basically that generated so much controversy. I just think sometimes you guys look at the good old GL days with rose tinted glasses. I get that too. The ex Rx Rubberroom/EB/SPers did/do the same thing.

Plommer is correct IMO!

Sometimes MrsM even buys it as a chunk and grates herself! Has a distinctive sharper bite to it over parma.!

IAG
I think I hate Parm cheese because the smell takes me back to a bad Spaghetti Factory incident in Kansas City when I was young. Truth.

I also can never spell it correctly. I hate that cheese.

as you should! Why? because its not Pecorino Romano!

I can tell you this, there are some slight differences as to the italian culture in the US and Canada.

I believe it's because more Sicilians ended up in New York and the Eastern US - y'all have more of a Sicilian influence.

In Canada the vast majority of Italians are from the southern region of Italy, mainly Calabria.
My fathers family immigrated from the region north of Calabria. I don't think I've met a single Italian in Toronto that originated from Sicily. A few stragglers from the north, but most from the poor regions of the south.

I know, it's confusing, but his thread is not about food any more than Pulp Fiction is a movie about food. I know, food is mentioned. It's befuddling.

Here is what is flying over some heads - and I just might blow some minds but ---> this thread is not about cheese. The bananas thread is not about bananas.

They are about humor. We have had some very funny, interesting people at gamelive over the years that would make each other laugh and think. Still do as a matter of fact. But the point of the moment is: the specific foodstuffs are irrelevant. Disposable props. This is nothing like a thread about logging everything you eat. The point is not the food. It's the humor.

All I can suggest is look at the threads again. Either you'll see it or not. It's very hard to explain humor to people and lord knows not everyone has a fully developed sense of it.

You know what they say about having to explain humor Muddy.

Hating Parmesan cheese is pretty strong IAG. Better rethink your position. I think you need to try the romano cheese.

If there is a cheese out there that i don't like the taste of, I have not seen it yet... Muddy you can eat the mold off of cheddar and it will harm you in no way... as for the mold inside blue cheese and the like, they actually inject it into the middle of the cheese and let it do it's stuff..

Yum.

Am a fan of aged cheddar. Bought a small brick of 5yo last night. It literally crumbles as you cut it.

I'm going to pick up a piece of 10 yr old cheddar this weekend Matty.. .I have been craving that pucker-y flavor for awhile now.. I like going to the cheese places in Kensington Market . The ladies there make sure you keep trying stuff so you will buy it... Global cheese opened up another location in the west end... down around Kipling and Norseman... they always have some amazing cheeses on special.

Their garlic cream cheese is so tasty.... have to give a nod to the spiced olives as well... :excellent:
