Good lord, FW. Keenan is a Canadian.

FW????

I know he is but the basic premise of the discussion is the Soviet way vs the North Anerican way. I include both as they have similar styles, obviously Canada is far deeper than the U.S. at the skilled positions.

If we want to go with hard-ass control freaks from the U.S., we can start with Coack K, Saban, and Lombardi.

Apart from being a Hall of Famer and a multi-time MVP and a Champion with rings for every finger and his thumbs as well, and apart from being such a nationally respected figure that he was once offered the Governor Generalship of Canada (which he declined citing a wish to spend more time with his family), he was known for his generosity of spirit and time with fans and media.

And #4 was known for one of the more deluxe, legible autographs of all time.

As a Habs fan from my first memories, Beliveau was an early hero for me. My brother and I had his posters on our walls and I remember the huge graceful figure he was on the ice and I remember how his hockey cards were like sacred religious objects to me.

He was just one of those rare guys who always seemed to do everything right. No cheap shots, no scandals. Generous and friendly. Really fucking good at the game. Beloved by the French and English alike. Just a quality guy his whole life, it seemed.

:awesome: :clapper:
why do most players seem like assholes today? :dunno:
Maybe just cause I'm older and they seem like punk kids.

Hockey players are the nicest. Probably athletes are asses because the media is looking to report everything.

Like that opc card Matty. Got outbid a few times trying to get it. I would say within 15 minutes of his death hitting the news, all of his signed cards were sold on eBay.
