Is Minnesota loon different from Canadian loon, and if so how?

Canadian loons pay higher taxes and have universal health care.

Otherwise, I think they're the same.

The Canadian 2 dollar coin is called a toonie. It is not a bird-based coin however the name kinda integrates the word two and it rhymes.

Canadians are zany like that.

Two dollar coin. Amazing. We can't get a one dollar coin to work.

How do you do it?

It's probably the catchy names.

We tend to name our dollar coins after Native Americans with ambiguous and somewhat challenging pronunciations.

I don't know what to say about how we do it. Suddenly it was just like, here it is. This is money now.

And suddenly laundry/vending machines were looking for these coins.

What choice is there? Can you opt out of money?

They are excellent names though, that's true.

Pretty much. People here just consistently take their dollar coins to the bank and don't spend them out in the world.

Yeah the paper versions of 1's and 2's just disappeared. I guess the government recalled them or some damn thing? And shit just carried on with the new stuff.

I guess we are done with pennies now too. You know what? - I'm not actually positive if they are totally gone or there is still a place for them in some situations or what.

I am without a doubt the least appropriate person to be starting thread on business/economy.

Getting rid of pennies is one of my proudest moments as a Canadian. I'd been calling for it for years. Useless fokking pennies.

I like all of it. Loonies, toonies, no more paper 1's and 2's, no pennies.

Canada's monetary evolution has my blanket approval.

It would be hella cool if I wasn't so broke tho.

I'm generally in favor of less coinage for carrying/convenience purposes. In this regard canadians are superior with their destruction of the penny but inferior in the adoption of the dollar coin.
