I LOVED the restaurant tete-a-tete.

I LOVED the taped "confession."

I LOVED the meeting in the desert.

Less enthusiastic about the Jesse meltdown.

Overall though it was a triumph of inspired, non-formula, non-cliche writing - with pitch-perfect acting. Absolutely loved it.

Agreed.

Anyone in the mood to break it down? The name Jesse mentioned when it all came to him was not easily recognizable to me.

Great episode but my only complaint was that it was clearly evident that Jesse wasn't going to follow through with the identity change.
The name was Brock - Jesse's ex-girlfriend's son. Jesse at first believed Walt was responsible for poisoning the kid, but Walt manipulated Jesse and made him believe it was Gus. Walt did in fact poison the kid, but with some plant, not the ricin.

Jesse was told by Brock's doctors that there was no ricin in the kid's system. Jesse was still nervous that the ricin was missing and could potentially harm someone else. I think Walt even went so far as to plant a fake ricin cigarette in Jesse's apartment in order to ease his mind. Meanwhile, Walt had stolen the real ricin cigarette from Jesse (it's what he went back to get at his abandoned house in the flash forward of the first episode a few weeks back).

I'm just not really clear on what exactly happened tonight that made Jesse realize that Walt stole the ricin from him. Seems like Jesse just sort of had this epiphany out of nowhere. And I don't know why he now thinks Walt used it on Brock when the kid's doctors told him there was no ricin in his system.

Now I'm more confused.

Walt had Sal get the big black guy to steal the ricin cigarette out of jessies pack of cigs ( he had it because he was supposed to use it to kill gus). He figured it out after the black guy took his pot without him noticing.

I don't like how they're rushing to the conclusion. Walt Jr is so useless as a character anymore but they have no choice but to plug him in, what with this whole thing being about family.

But seriously, no one cares about Walt Jr as long as he doesn't spill his sticky cereal milk on the breakfast bar.

Hope the final 5 episodes don't feel so contrived.

I think his character also plays a part in the larger image of the series being about ruining familes in drug operations. Without a "child" portion of the message it kind of falls apart no?

Yah yah, it's just, we never see the guy in the show. His scene last night felt weird.

But yeah, I suppose that one of the stronger moments will happen when he learns all about his dad. That'll be a make-or-break moment for the actor - how the fok do you act that?

Walter White is easily the most despicable TV character I've ever seen at this point. Holy disgusting evil genius.
