Does anyone have this? I am needing a way to watch Netflix on an actual television. It appears my choices are to buy some sort of cable (HDMI?) to attach my computer to the tv, or buy a streaming device such as Apple TV. From what I read the best one is Roku 3.

I know nothing about these things. I need something with easy set up. I have iPhone and ipad so might lean toward the Apple TV..although the Roku deal is only another $10 or so and it appears to be better. I don't know. Apparently the Roku offers more options although all I'm really trying to do is watch movies from Netflix...not sure what else I could use it for.

Anyone? Buehler?

I don't know what Chromecast is...or a dongle for that matter. I just want the least expensive way to watch the West Wing in bed...on TV..not on a device. I don't even understand what else you can do with these, but watch movies and look at your pictures I guess?

Do you have one Mr. Q...do you like it? Will you come set one up for me?

If you have apple get the Apple one... its just a little thing that looks like a USB key and it plugs into HD slot on the Television...then you can use Apps on your phone to watch shit after you have the apps installed on the phone.

Chromecast is Google's version of Apple TV. I mostly use it for watching You Tube on the TV.

A dongle is a small piece of hardware that attaches to a computer, TV, or other electronic device in order to enable additional functions such as copy protection, audio, video, games, data, or other services. These services are available only when the dongle is attached.

Although the term "dongle" was originally used to refer only to software protection devices, it is now more broadly applied.

I have a Sony Blu-Ray player that does Netflix, NHL Gamecentre Live and all sorts of shit I never use. It's basically a PS3 without the game functionality.

Thing cost like 80 bucks. Works great.

I had a Chromecast - was disappointed with it, didn't like the video quality, I never did tried it with netflix, was a bit wonky on initial setup had to retry a few times before it started working properly. I don't like the concept of my handheld processing the video, if you have a shitty android, or lots of apps running the quality will suffer more. My setup is buying a laptop exclusively for the tv and having a wireless mouse/keyboard combo, leave it always on with the screen set to sleep after 1 minute, and stream everything from the regular browser.

I never thought about phone quality in regards to video quality RJ. My Nexus 5 chugs out HD like a champ.

We run it through our PS3 and XBox. Also you can get an HDMI cord cheap on Amazon and if your TV and computer are compatible you can plug and play. You might have to adjust a driver or two, but it's pretty sweet.

Now I'm really confused. Do you think Geek Squad would come set it up for me? I could probably just do the cord from the computer...is that something that I can easiliy hook up? Then I just need to set my laptop next to it right? I could use my ipad to surf/post from bed I guess ..or could I hook the ipad into the tv and use the laptop in bed? I'm so dumb with this shit.

I guess I just want the easiest option. I don't need a tons of bells and whistles...I probably wouldn't use it all that much.

Get an appletv or roku. They're super-easy, cheap, you can keep browsing on the laptop, and you can control the netflix via remote control instead of having to walk to the laptop.

You won't need help setting it up. Couldn't be easier.
