I wish people could try to think of gamelive as more than just a blob of blank paper. It is a bit different. It was founded as a place of some non-lameness. .

this is a key point imo. And it's not about starting the thread. We've exposed ourselves as being lame, having little interesting to say, (at least to each other). Just plain lazy. Lazy posting, not just this thread, but its a prime example.

Lets audio tape our farts and post here. That would be similar, slightly more creative posting.

Not trying to be snarky, just really trying to understand the difference....http://gamelive.com/forum/showthread.php/9309-I-bought-pudding

There are quite a few differences.

It was a one-off. There was no suggestion that it would be interesting to talk about what Mudcat bought at the store, everyday, ad infinitum.

It was self-aware. "Sorry to put this in Hooligans Talk; I am still waiting for the special pudding sub-forum."

It was well written and had some humor.

Most importantly, though, there was math.

I'll give you that. And I certainly didn't mean to suggest when the thread was created that people's eating habits would be fun to talk about ad nauseum. However apparently people did including MC at one point. It would seem like this would be a self regulating thing. If it wasn't interesting to some people it would die off on it's own.

I don't necessarily find watching people talk about the tv shows they watch interesting because I don't watch the same kinds of shows, but I am certainly not going to complain because the thread keeps resurfacing. Of course you could argue that tv is just inherently a better topic, but I don't think it is the place of one or a few people to determine what is appropriate content of a forum...or if that IS what is wanted...then there out to be some by-laws or directions laid out by those in charge.

I like to discuss more intelligent subjects, but also like to have some conversations where I don't have to think so hard sometimes. I don't know. I don't see why it bothers people so much and they can't just ignore it.

I don't think the creation of this thread is an issue at all, by the way. Just about any thread can turn into something brilliant, nearly impossible to predict.

In my mind, what this thread is now is a minor symptom of the unfortunate direction the forum has taken. It has nothing to do with the fact that you or anyone started it.

I kinda hate the tv and movie thread, though I do post in it sometimes.

So what is the solution?
Perhaps the persons who are concerned with the direction of the forum should lead by example and start more threads that are true to the "mission statement" of the forum. Cuz I have no clue..."We need more sports threads vs. Be aware this is NOT a sports/gambling forum." Overshare, but Cali posts about her life spiral and many don't like that.

I'm so confuseeeeeeeeeeeeeeed. I just know sometimes this place is so dead that a thread of any sort is a welcome relief, but I realize you can't just start threads to start them. I hear a lot of complaining, but no solutions being offered other than the implication that the people starting the thread should just somehow know it's a "terrible thread," or that the people continuing to post in said thread should realize it's a terrible thread and stop posting in it regardless of whether or not they are deriving some entertainment or other value from it.

I'm completely dumbfounded or possibly really mentally on another planet! As much respect as I have for Muddy, my opinion here differs in not seeing this thread any different than lots of other threads which you could state are terrible? I think the title could have been better explained if it was something like "What are you eating today?"

Before posting the above, I had to go back and see 14 times IAG posted what she had to eat! And by the way, less Red Bull please! So it doesn't appear she posts every single day what she's eating! She has commented a lot on what other posters have posted bout what they have ate! I mean feedback is good, right!

Maybe I'm too into FOOD too much to accurately have a take here on this! I do know I don't have enough Flavored Creamer in stock to cover the number of cans and bags of coffee I have in stock! That could be a problem!

The solution would be try to be creative or show some passion etc.. People are free to post whatever, but if it sucks it sucks. Does not necessarily mean we can do better :dunno:

Just like if you were writing an article for a magazine. But try to keep it to a few sentences  You don't wanna Wally up the forum either.

IAG, just keep doing what you are doing! No need for sorry or delete it crap ..... what I'm bout to say has nothing to do with Muddy, MRX, or RC, 3 people I respect greatly here ..... but some people's general nature is to push you in the direction they want you to go ..... the more you go in that direction ..... the more those people push!

LOBBYISTS honey! And until they pay you cash to go there, don't go there!

Before the discussion posts of today, a quick review shows my posts to account for aprox 60 or %12 of all those in this thread of which 14 Mr M. tells us are my food logs.

And, as I was looking thru it, I believe I saw almost every regular poster in there.

Yeah Mr. Monkey...I don't get it. At all. I'll be watching for the non lazy threads though.

And I know you guys were not picking on me specifically, but the thread in general, I'm just pointing out that the participation rate was high.

I'm serious when I say I will be looking at for some non sucky thread examples from you! Show me the wayyyyyyyyyyyy. And then I will choose to consider or disregard. But I am interested.

IAG, don't even think bout it anymore! Don't need you adding an useless med thinking that will help you! IMO it's not you ......it's just life! If you don't believe me, just ask this guy .....
