The Dalmore is $115 a bottle in the US?

We won't be trying it if it is

Buy me one guey. Shit is $175 here.

It is by far the best, most detailed, most powerful yet drinkable whiskey I've ever had. I wanna find a bar that serves it. Right now my only option is to pay $5.50 for a half-ounce sample at the liquor store.

New entry at #9 Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve (120 proof) is insanely sweet and powerful, almost unbearably so at first. I've drank a bunch of different high-proof whiskeys, my current favorite being the sherried Aberlour A'bunadh, and they tend to be a lot smoother than the proof would suggest, probably because they are aged further than mass-produced stuff. Anyway, this is no mild pour, and after a couple shots I had to give up and cut it with a bit of water. When you do so, it calms down and is very reminiscent of regular Knob Creek, with just a bit more honey sweetness to it.

Not bad at all, even though I'm not a huge KC fan. And since you will probably want to cut it with water to bring it down to a more reasonable proof, you get more bourbon bang for your buck. On value alone then, we rank this Knob Creek concentrate one notch higher than the regular expression.

Thank you for turning me into an alcoholic Jellopoo. I don't know why it's 100x more socially acceptable than being a cokehead but I'm gonna run with it.

They have this whiskey event at the liquor store chain around here and they're carrying an unusually large number of stuff they don't normally import. I was absolutely flabbergasted by the selection last Friday.

This thread is long overdue. I've been secretly ranking single malts and blended scotches for a lil while now.

Which ones are your faves?

Personally, I can't stand the stuff that smells and tastes medicinal, and it seems that half of the scotch world falls into that category. I much prefer the sweeter sherried stuff.

Rankings coming up shortly.

I love woody. Laphroiag is on my shortlist of next drams to try. The 10 is supposed to be excellent for the price, also the Quarter Cask.

Also shortlisted are the Balvenie 12 Doublewood, Talisker 10 and Glenfiddich 18.
