McDonald's isn't the worst coffee I've ever had, but it's not even remotely close to the best either. I've heard people rave about both McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts coffee, neither of which I consider above average at all.
I make my own coffee at home by starting with a couple ounces of hot water and pulling two shots of espresso over the top of it. This is referred to as a long black; it's the same as an Americano, except the order of espresso and water is reversed. This preserves the crema on top (crema tastes great). Anyway, the result is a very rich, delicious cup of coffee, and blows anything you can get at a fast food out of the water.
If you want a good cup of coffee at Starbucks (or many other coffee houses), ask for the French press. You have to stay there to drink it, since the press makes more than one cup's worth of coffee, and they serve it to you in a real mug. Far, far better than the average swill most people get there.
Isn't there some coffee made of monkey turds that supposed to be very good?
Looks like more of a meercat type of thing.

It's still coffee beans, it's just been passed through the digestive system of the animal. I tried it once (bucket list-type thing). It's really good coffee, but certainly not worth the $170/pound price tag.
