In this specific situation, I think so, only because the other option is basically a pseudo-democracy which is, in practice, more like a plutocracy.

Right, that's why it's so tough. If you have truly unlimited political "speech", you get politicians who are bought and paid for; I can't see any alternative, really.

So jealous. I once had an even sweeter deal; it was a pick 'em league (not ATS, outright winners) where you would give each matchup a point value, 1-16, using each number once. Hmm...let's see, should I log in 2 minutes before kickoff and assign the 16 points to the biggest favorite on Pinny...

Looks like the lines don't update. When do you have to have your pick in by? Just the kickoff of the game in question, or do you have to have all of them in before whatever the first game of the week is?

Again, goes back to campaign finance. What is the fairest solution? Although it doesn't really mesh with my (mostly libertarian) views, I think it might be to have a total ban on paid advertising for any candidate or political issue. Good luck getting that pushed through congress, though.

Gonzaga is the best name ever. Gonzaga has been advanced quite far on many a bracket solely due to the name coolness.

Not for every meal, but lunch meat is very cheap. So is ground beef, frozen chicken breasts, frozen fish filets, etc. if you get them on sale.

Considering I am able to eat a "normal" diet (grains, meats, dairy, fruits, vegetables) for $1.00 per meal, yes. I'm not claiming anyone is abusing anything; I am simply saying the amount being given out (on average) is reasonable.

Not sure how anyone else on here eats, so I can't say whether I agree with that or not. Was curious so I looked it up: the national average SNAP benefit is $133.08 per person, per month (http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/18SNAPavg$PP.htm). That equates to about $1.48 per person, per meal. Note that it...

No reason to "hate on" the rich (nor the poor). Who here doesn't try to take as many tax breaks as they legally can? If you were rich, you'd do what you could to save on taxes also; it would be silly not to. Yes, the tax code is broken, and the only way it's going to improve is by fixing...

It's cool. Despite my former life as a massive punk fan (I wasn't ever really a punk, more like a skater-type that listened to punk music), my kid doesn't look the least bit punk. I do sing old NOFX and Rancid songs to her, however.

plommmaaaaaaay! LOL...Figured it would generate that type of response. It's not a sexual thing; they are pants often worn by goths and punks. Frequently worn with Doc Martens.

LOL; took me several seconds to realize why those are so oddly shaped (riiiiiiight...they're for a baby). The real question is, do they make bondage pants for a baby?

McDonald's isn't the worst coffee I've ever had, but it's not even remotely close to the best either. I've heard people rave about both McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts coffee, neither of which I consider above average at all. I make my own coffee at home by starting with a couple ounces of hot...
