The grad student I just wrote about went on to become one of the most successful online limit holdem players. He LOVES gambling still. He's just giddy every time he comes to Vegas. It's weird. He's Alaskan, maybe that has something to do with it.

is he a millionaire by now? a multi-millionaire? does he say it's gotten harder for him to make money in recent years or are the opportunities he saw in the beginning still basically there?

I'd venture to say that online poker is not as lucrative as it once was (2003/2004?)

I mean, even Daft used to mop up at Party Poker back in 2005 playing $1/$2 NL

I'm sure he's a millionaire, but he never quit his job as a professor. He has a nice family and his wife is doesn't like the idea of him being solely a professional gambler, but I'm sure he'll retire quite early.

Yes, it's become much harder. He's pretty much only a headsup player, and there aren't too many people willing to play him any more.
