1) Tomato wanted to put his money where his mouth was. When he was a small little seed he was always organizing fantasy football and pick'em tournaments and winning. Even in elementary school he was interested in predictability of events, he filled out an NCAA bracket in 2nd grade.

The grad student I just wrote about went on to become one of the most successful online limit holdem players. He LOVES gambling still. He's just giddy every time he comes to Vegas. It's weird. He's Alaskan, maybe that has something to do with it.
