Jello, first of all, CALM DOWN baby. We're just hanging out discussing music. You're one of my favorite gamelivers. I DO NOT want WAR.

You said "nothing about them is Hardcore". If they're "post-hardcore" then they clearly have something to do with hardcore. Guey, let's not argue about it. We both have a ton of admiration for them (I think) so let's sit back, have a drink and enjoy the music.

:shakeit:

Daft, post hardcore means after the hardcore scene. It was an evolution from their hardcore roots, but they were not hardcore and Ian MacKaye would be the first one to tell you that himself.

You know how many times I saw Fugazi live? You know how many of those times that faggot refused to continue playing until there was absolutely NO MOSHING in the crowd? Not a hardcore band buddy. Sorry.

Ian MacKaye would be the first one to tell you that himself.

I've never spoken to Ian MacKaye so I can't really imagine what he would say.

I've seen Fugazi live 4 times. So because Ian used to stop shows because dopey skinheads were stomping on peoples heads that means they're not a hardcore band? ugh.

So in your infinite music classification wisdom, you would classify Fugazi as an Emo band?

You realize that were teetering on lame here by carrying on a long debate on what sub-genre Fugazi falls into right?

Wait, I just realized that you called Ian MacKaye a faggot. This discussion will most likely go nowhere.

I still love you though

You know what, if true punk fans were making this list you'd be hard pressed to keep the Circle Jerks off of it actually. What a fuckin band. Keith Morris (original Black Flag vocalist), Greg Hetson (Bad Religion), Chuck Biscuits (one of the best punk drummers ever). Yeah, I think the Circle Jerks make my top 10.

My top 10:

10. The Stooges

9. Face to Face

8. Circle Jerks

7. Dead Kennedys

6. Social Distortion

5. Bad Brains

4. The Misfits

3. Bad Religion

1a. The Ramones

1. The Clash

Honorable mention to the Kinks, MC5, Velvet Underground, The New York Dolls (and Johnny Thunders), The Dead Boys, The Damned, The Buzzcocks, The Pistols, Black Flag, Pennywise...among many, many others.

Oh this could be fun. Lets both comb through all the posts from last night for spelling errors!

It's only funny to me because I was recently at a bar in downtown St. Pete (black part of town) and it was owned by a couple little muslims or hindu people or whatever and they had posters all over the walls for their "RAGGAE NIGHT." I was laughing because if you're going to have a night showcasing a certain genre of music you should probably learn to spell it.

Had the tables been turned and I did that in Iran, I'm sure I would've been stoned in public.

Islamic punk was just an idea in a novel by a disaffected Muslim convert – but for the bands he inspired around the world the scene became real. Now, as The Taqwacores is about to be released, has the scene already betrayed its ideals?

Top 10 Punk bands

10. The Slits- First female punk band
9. MC5- laid foundation for Detroit punk
8. NOFX- Prolific, cooler version of SoCal Green Day. Funny and melodic in quick time.
7. Dead Kennedys- Political hardcore punk. Inspired by bands ahead of them on my list.
6. Fugazi- Kown more for their cheap ticket pricing, which is a shame. Just a great band that was VERY talented musically.
5. Television- Underrated NYC jazz punk. Many garage bands of past/present count them as influences. Fugazi was one of them.
4. The Clash- British punk that added reggae and ska to their music. Became big in the US, and made one album afterwords.
3. Black Flag- West coast answer to the Sex Pistols. Henry Rollins is the straight edge Sid Vicious
2. The Ramones- Every song was 2 minutes long. Joey Ramone had less life on stage than a cadavar. All in all, the best American punk band of all time.
1. Sex Pistols- The definition of punk. Live fast, die young, and piss of the establishment. They did it better than all the rest.
