I can understand The Dolls not on there with only 3 albums. Wheres Agent Orange? Wheres Face to Face?

The Clash and Ramones are #1/2 in no order. Minor threat belongs. Fugazi isn't punk, imo. They created emo pretty much. I could mix up about 8 of those bands in a hat, so I can't really argue#s 3-10. Green day, while I like some of their really old stuff is not and never was punk.

You could even argue VU was punk. The Kinks.

Tough to make a list like this, but yeah Green Day even on it much less#1 is a joke. But it's Rolling Stone.

Solid post, Jellster but I have two issues with it.

I've never even heard of Face To Face so that tells me they don't belong on the list.

And don't urinate all over the Fugazi name by putting emo in the same sentence with them. Fugazi if not punk, is a DC Hardcore band. My Chemical Romance is an emo band.

Daffy, Fugazi is not hardcore. Nothing about them is hardcore. They were the beginning of emo punk, but when they did it was fucking cool.

Bad Brains is a DC hardcore band. Also one of the best raggae bands ever, fwiw.

Face to Face makes my top 10 list every day and twice on Sundays. Daft, check out an Album called "Don't Turn Away." That's all you need to know, but they've been doing it for almost 20 years now and the fact you haven't heard of them tells me more about your credentials than theirs. No offense pal. Just calling it like I see it.

My top 10 would never, ever, ever include the fucking Sex Pistols. God awful band. A few catchy tunes, but not a top 10 punk band of all time. I've already discussed the Green Day thing. No way they belong on any punk list.

what would the Descendants be?

A seminal California punk band, along the lines of Agent Orange. Worthy of discussion as a fringe member of this list.

What about fucking BAD RELIGION?!?!

Can't believe I forgot them. Bump Black Flag, imo. What about Pennywise even? Definitely more punk and better and as prodigious as Green Day.

The fact that it says rolling stone readers says it all. Greenday (I and do like some of their stuff) cannot even go on their knees and lick the sweat of the balls of anyone in 2 3 4 and 5.

Ramones #1, Pistols #2 is solid.......

what would you consider Green Day if you dont consider them Punk :clueless:

rolling stone polls full of people who listen to the radio and might pick up a magazine from time to time...its no surprise they have Green Day #1 , imo.

Ray, you did not ask me but I would place Green Day into the sub-genre of Pop-Punk

While I don't think they belong on any list titled "Top Ten Punk Bands Of All Time", they are clearly not the worst band in the world. The guy knows how to write songs but the phony English accent and the lack of edge are the deal breaker for me.

*It should be noted that I have never purchased any Green Day material nor do I ever listen to them.

See that's the thing about punk, there are many sub genres. Green Day is pop-punk, or bubble gum punk at some stages and then just mainstream at others.

And Daft I dont care what Wiki says. It's not going to teach me anything about Fugazi. Plus, read the fucking quote you posted pal,
"Fugazi is an American post-hardcore band." Post-hardcore...i think post means"after".
