This is not really a finished product. It is a working copy of a song which I make so I'll remember the structure when I come back to do a full production later. I see I even forgot to edit off the start and end scraps. Oh well.

But I make a vid --> I figure I should stick it on gamelive. Lots of goofy singing faces here anyway. :greencheck:

It's long for a song. 6 minutes. The final product should be quite a bit longer. The bridge is going to be fleshed out with lots of spooky synthesizer and shit. I think it's going to be more like 2 songs: one song followed by an instrumental song followed by a reprise. Whatever.

It is meant to be very dark and depressing. If it makes you want to kill yourself, it is doing its job.

Listen at your own risk.

PHANTOMS IN THE VOID

Truth is blowing in
On an icy wind leaves me
Shivering, shivering
Alone and sleepless

Sometimes memories
Echo through the years
Whispering, chattering
In accusation

Haunted by voices
Drifting like ashes in the air
Will this night go on forever?

All that I wanted
Is blowing like ashes in the air
Will the night go on forever?

What can I do when every way I turn leads into a trap?
Cant go back
No escaping

Tell me a story
Of someplace far from here
Lie to me, soothingly
Till tomorrow

Haunted by voices
Drifting like ashes in the air
Will this night go on forever?

All that I dreamed of
Is blowing like ashes in the air
Will the night go on forever?

Bridge
Repeat refrain

Phantoms in the void
All that Ive destroyed
Chilling reminders coming home

Although the lyrics are potentially powerful, they lack a certain base. That is, there should be less ambiguity,an indication of who the character is and what he's singing about.

Some interesting stuff in there for sure. Feel like it could use a drum.

Thanks for the kind words.

This song is part of a concept album project I'm working on so hopefully, in its final form, there is more of that foundation you are talking about. I think this song will come 4th. It is the darkest moment before recovery begins.

I don't know though. The whole thing is somewhat abstract. Even if you heard it all, your opinion might remain the same.

There will definitely be drums and, in my vision for it, fairly elaborate instrumentation. Hopefully any misgivings anyone has about ambiguity are blown away by the awesome sound of it.

Muddy, I not sophisticated enough to explain why I like it but I do. It's powerful and moving almost hauntingly so. I don't find myself overly depressed more mello than anything else. I think with some additional instruments maybe some background vocals it has kind of a Rock Opera type potential to it.

Oh and by the way, that piano sounds a hell of a sight better since being tuned.

As I said I'm not musically sophisticated so all I can say is, fokken bravo Muddy.

I hope you don't take offense to this Muddy because I mean it as a compliment but this has a pre- Saturday Night Fever Barry Gibb feel to it. I think it's a combo of your voice (which has a Gibb feel to it) and the melody (which is Gibb-esque). For those not familiar, the Bee Gees were much darker pre-"disco".

Of course, my song attention spans goes about 4:30 and after that I get bored.

I really enjoyed this. It will be cool to hear what you do production wise for this.

We're lucky to have posters like you here.

Muddy, I love it. You certainly know how to write. Using a minor key sets such a sad and depressing tone. And I absolutely love the last chord. Bravo...I think this is my favorite one yet.

I also love the idea of a concept album. One of my favorites is Poe's Haunted.
