fair enough. im certainly no neo-con (like you said, she's become a heroine for these nutjobs). however i believe in free markets (economically), i actively disbelieve in any gods and i am somewhat of an ethical egoist. thus, i agree with a lot of her Objectivism.

it is my opinion that welfare should be regarded as theft and has no place in a free market.

Reno, there are exceptions to the rule but there also needs to be a change in the woe-is-me mentallity.

There is a large population among us that want for nothing more than to have someone else take care of them. These are not just minorities either, their are massive amounts of white people that are just sitting there taking and not producing.

sure, our culture produces a lot of bad things. I'm saying don't blame the victim. Instead, create a culture where people are able to take care of each other and themselves. Plenty of resources in this country for that. Unfortunately, that doesn't serve the interests of those that have power.

Welfare reinforces an agrarian ethos which places value on women having kids, even absent an adequate support mechanism for them. As we no longer have an economy which makes use of an excess of human labor, we have to abandon that mindset which leads us to believe that all life is sacred. All life is sacred when people have to expend effort in order to survive. Once they stop contributing in equal measure to their drain on society, they're just another parasite which needs to be eradicated.

I'm not talking about people who hit a rough patch and need help making ends meet. I'm talking about people, some of whom are my own relatives in the first degree, whose idea of family planning is studying the welfare schedule to determine how many kids they need to have to maximize their government benefits. Once people reach that level of dependency there is no hope for them save the total removal of any form of benefits, even food or food stamps. Those people would then turn to their relatives for aid, and in doing so, would educate the next generation on how little there is to be gained from being a deadbeat. We lost our humanity when we allowed the government to insulate us from distasteful situations, like deadbeat relatives, and we'll have to accept even more distastefulness to correct the situation.

Is this supposed to be taken seriously?
In what world you live in? What % of people produce anything worthwhile? 10% maybe?

define what you mean by "worthwhile." i think production of any goods/services which are useful to others is all scholar was referring to. if you cant do this, there is no reason for anyone else to have to pick up your slack.
