i know people who have come to costa rica from the states to get expensive dental work done. If it's really cost-effective to do, I wonder why more people don't.

People probably have a stigma about getting care in some of these countries outside of the US.

I have a friend who is married to a girl from Colombia and he has traveled to Colombia for treatment and raves about the care.

Its hard to change some stereotypes and perceptions no matter how much money one would save.

It's excellent. These people love nice teeth. And cheap. I have a friend that came down for a month's vacation and got some dental work done that would have cost about the cost of the whole trip at home.

Are they unrealistic with dental costs? How much does a normal cleaning (without x-rays) cost?
I paid $100 last time I had my regular cleaning.

Thats about $94 US dollars.

Dental coverage is usually provided as a benefit by employers, possibly with a deductable.

Usually, you pay the dentist and then submit the expense as a claim and receive a full or partial reimbursement from your employers insurance plan.

PS: The emergency surgery I referred to is done in a hospital, not in a dentists office.
