we couldn't have asked for a better draw last world cup.

lets hope we're as lucky this time around.

going to need to get an african team in pot 2 and avoid england, italy, netherlands, portugal, france in pot 4

anyone know where canada is?

Not sure you want an African team. We got knocked out by an African team team last WC. Best draw for the US will be Uruguay, Russia, England, USA. These are not very finesse teams and we can match well in running with them. Any team that uses possession game like Spain or Brasil will pick us apart.

Hard to believe US would beat any of the teams you mention Saulty. I don't know when if ever Russia played US, but I would take Russia. Even though they suck.

They don't need to beat them. The qualifying round is not about who wins..it's about who gets points to move up to the next round. There is a lot of strategy in the qualifying round. Teams don't go full speed for the win in the first game and that's why games are tight and low scoring. Then once the first game is played teams open up to go for a result that suits them. If you don't understand how the WC format works in the qualifying rounds don't bet it or don't watch it. Because you will be complaining that the games are boring, blah, blah, blah..
