you guys are making this interesting. Wasn't going to watch women's hockey. Now, I'll have to.
I'm trying to say it in a way that doesn't sound like homerism, but the difference between US/Canada and everyone else is quite large.

As a fan its not really interesting to watch. Would watching the Lakers play Gonzaga be interesting?

The only interesting game is the Canada/USA final, and that is the only possible outcome for gold.

5Dimes has it at -2500 that either Canada or USA wins gold.

I can't even fathom a 10 goal line in hockey. How is that possible? Hockey is all luck anyway.

:moped:

When you have two relatively evenly matched teams, hockey results can look like a random walk.
In European ice hockey though, 3 or 4 goal spreads are quite commonplace and results are generally much more predictable.

I know nothing about womens ice-hockey but would not touch this game either way. If the Canadians are 6-0 up in the second period, do they switch off and save themselves for the next game?

They don't. They play like robots. In 2006, they started by murdering Italy 16-0, then they beat Russia 12-0. Then I forget, but I don't think they allowed more than 2 goals during the whole tournament.

Breadipoo, open a window - moped fumes aren't good for ya.

Here I go, I'm skating down the ice with my puck...the bad guys are in my way. I'm going to just fire it into them and hope for the best.....

*smack*

Oh oh it didn't even come close. Hit about 3 defenders. But here comes my teammate! The puck landed right in front of him and the goalie doesn't see!!

SCOOOOOOOOOOORRREEEEEE!!!!

(I just described about 65% of hockey scores btw)

Bread, unfortunately that is a very accurate description of today's NHL. One has to watch Soviet teams from the 70's and 80's to see what real hockey is supposed to be like:panda:

Yeah, I remember when the Soviets played the Flyers and left the ice because they were getting the shit kicked out of them by the Broad St Bullies.

Those Soviet players were tough - not.

tic tac toe hockey. I LOVED old Soviet style hockey. short passes and no dump ins.

Reno is a good guy. I could sit with him for hours and talk old school hockey.

They may have been pussies Plommer, but you have to admit they were pretty damn skilled. The Soviets intimidated their opposition with skill and not with thuggery like actions. Bobby Clarke should be ashamed of himself. But I do like him.
