Haven't seen it in action. To be successful, they need to at least match Facebook in terms of features AND make it really really easy to move your shit and recreate your Facebook experience. I dunno if Google+ is it but Google will prolly keep trying until they succeed. They have the biggest userbase on the planet - you can't really not use Google.

as someone who is extremely interested in social networking and new media, I have read a lot about this. There are some huge differences. There is no open wall for leaving comments when other users are of line, everything is in real time conversation. Businesses and companies don't have any sort of profile for communication with "fans". It's a lot different. I'm not a fan. But facebook does need to take a cue from Google+ and see how their interface works and how you can group users.
