okay there is obviously a big drop off here.....

but what is the equivalent of winning the men's 100 meter dash in the winter olympics???????? a speed skating event or a skiing event?

who is the potential winter michael phelps, that draws all the ratings

what about the equivalent to winning the women's all-around gymnatics event? is there a winter olympics mary lou retton out there?

just wondering what those who hold the winter olympics in esteem value most.....

and don't answer hockey.....as that is the equivalent to basketball or baseball in the summer olympics...and as fair as the public goes that is not very important

I just think the Winter Olympics has less meaning to me. I dont get up for it.

Winter olympics are right in the middle of the college basketball race to march madness, competition heating up.
NBA is on allstar break and the playoffs are jsut around the corner
NFL just ended so people are still in the questioning stages with potential free agency and off season moves.
Just so much other stuff to be interested in.

Whereas the Summer olympics,

Theres no basketball
No football( preseason meh)
and no ones gives a rats ass about baseball in august , atleast me, i can care less til October.
So the Olympics is something new to look at besides

If you cant appreciate Usain bolt your insane, but yes besides that freak and the USA basketball team ill pass on the summer Olympics in terms of enjoyability to watch but im more referring to the timing of it all, id rather watch college basketball or NBA or hockey than the winter Olympics.

There will be very exciting and competitive hockey games in the olympics.

Bolt may be the best story since Flojo.

The suddenly super fast Jamaican sprint team reminds me of the East German women swimmers way back. They came out of nowhere and dominated. At the time it was supposed to be their special talent and training, just as with Jamaica today. Of course, years later they all admitted to their advanced doping program. Jamaica doesn't test its athletes, like other countries. Usain Bolt breaking the world record on the 100 dash without even trying hard? Great story, but do I believe it? Nah.

hockey, yes is the answer to any question. Any team sport is way more interesting and important than individual sport. And Olympic hockey is king. I'm sure it's not as important as American high school basketball or whatever... but you know.

Any evidence that Jamaica's testing is less stringent than other countries ? And Bolt and his compatriots compete all over the world every year and hence have to get tested loads of times. Much better than Dennis Mitchell (US sprinter) who once tested for higher-than-normal testosterone. He reasoned that it was due to beer and sex for four times the previous night. His explanation was accepted.
