If I wasn’t in the industry, I’d leave 18%. I mean the only thing different is you’re placing the order at a counter and not a table. The rest of the scenario is still in play.

There is zero follow up service after they deliver the bag of food to us at our seats. To me, there are several differences between the movie theater scenario and ordering dinner at a table at a restaurant.

Which brings me to places like Bolay and BASICALLY ANY PLACE WHERE YOU INSERT YOUR DEBIT CARD WITH A CHIP in to pay for your meal.

They all now HAVE AN OPTION TO TIP OR NOT.

The vast majority of the time I’m getting food to go in these scenarios. First of all, I’m slightly annoyed that I’m getting asked to tip in this situation. NOTE: If I go to a nice restaurant and I get good service I’m tipping 20% automatic. Excellent/outstanding service and I’m going 25%. Bar tabs I’m 25% for good service and 30%-35% for outstanding.

But I don’t want to be asked for a tip when I’m ordering food to go. What’s next? Tipping to purchase food at the supermarket? I’m all wound up right now.

Come over here one day and you'll understand why people get that wage. It's insanely expensive to live

The day they abolish tipping in my industry and pay us a fixed average hourly wage, I’m done.

You’ll see a drop off of excellent service and mediocrity will be the norm.

It might not seem like a lot, but to get my “game face” on nightly takes incentive. The hustle is real. You take away my incentive to hustle, and their will be nights you won’t get charismatic Casper.

You don’t want that.
