@Archie psychologically speaking, what's going to happen to the cultist once the cult leader is gone? How are they going disengage from this following? Will they be able to return to a normal life? or will they forever have this presence in their mind like a permanent mental scarring forever feeling like they got screwed?

And how about the opposite extreme, those people that have trump derangement syndrome? How are they going to cope after the object of their obsession is gone?

I was reading about cult the President of Turkmenistan created in the 90s around his persona. It was pretty far out there, creating religious scripture around himself, guaranteeing places in heaven, forcing citizens to do pilgrimages, statues all around the city, posters of him in everyone's homes, etc. But then he died and the next dictator that took over removed everything. I wonder how those cultist reacted to the abrupt change.
