Donating.vs.Death-Graph.0.jpg

Heart disease is boring.

I just filmed the ice bucket challenge for our company. It's pretty good. 10 people at once. And we're actually donating $100 to ALS and a bigger amount to another charity.

Of course it also needs to be pointed out that this is not including recent developments with the ice bucket challenge which has raised ~90 million dollars this month.

So that particular modest gray moon graduates to a significant planet in that graphic.

Seems fine just fine - but I'm getting the distinct feeling that the ice bucket challenge is on its last legs.

One thing I am seeing these days - charity fundraising-wise - is this thing where they are trying to raise money by getting people to pledge money to have other people face their worst fears. Like someone is afraid of skydiving so someone else pledges money to have them jump out of plane. Or they put spiders on an arachnophobic or whatever.

WTF is it for anyway? Oh, the Canadian Cancer Society.

Don't know how well it's doing. Seems a little over-complicated and cockamamie, and also it seems over-shadowed by the ice bucket challenge. I'm also seeing formal commercials for it which I guess would be an expense that would take away from proceeds.

I don't know. :dunno:

Maybe everyone just needs to CALM DOWN.

Seems to me the ice bucket challenge is somewhat of a ruse. I understand the ice as well as the bucket. What I am having trouble coming to terms with is the challenge. You are actually just sitting there doing absolutely nothing. You can pour a bucket of water on a dog laying on floor.. Did the dog do something challenging or nothing at all? When I think of challenging I think about climbing up a tree with a rope or maybe even cracking four eggs at once. If we accept the ice bucket challenge as really being challenging then its time to change the definition of the word

Id like to challenge all day at work tommrow. And what I mean is sit and do nothing.
