I floss. I'm not ashamed.

I go every 3 years or so, and never have any cavities.

I did when I was younger but there are no sweets in my house, and nothing with much sugar. The worst thing I do to my teeth is drink beer. Gave up smoking cigarettes last year too which was probably the best decision I've made in, well, forever.

Went to the dentist today. We had a list of things to do but we moved the front tooth which had chipped slightly - making me look like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber - well okay, not quite but there was a little chip - so that moved to the front of the line.

And then we resumed with the old list.

Got a new $1500 in work benefits for dentistry so away we go.

Didn't even get halfway through that allotment so lots more fun to come!

I went for my 6 month cleaning this past Thursday. Funny this thread popped up. Not a huge fan of the actual cleaning part but love walking out with some super clean teeth. A cleaning every 6 months is definitely the way to go if your plan allows for it.

I'm sure I need to go but afraid they might mess some stuff up and put me in a bad spot.
Last time, they were gonna put a filling in, but once they started screwing with it said that the tooth is fucked and need to pull it (luckily it was a wisdom tooth, so ok). But what if that happens to a tooth I like? Plus the prick wanted to put some temp filling and have me come back next week for the pull. I told him fuck that shit, you better pull it now. It's like they wanna stretch out your appointments :dunno::sparesomecutter:

Next stop: the barber

I go for bi-annual cleanings and most of my teeth have had fillings from cavities as a kid! My dentist (the best ever) just refills them when fillings deteriorate and part of tooth breaks off! Must be very careful flossing cause part of filling/tooth could easily break off!

MrX, I believe your science is correct! Cavities IMO are associated more with whatever genes your teeth get when you were born than eating sweets or not flossing! Flossing IMO might help out more gum disease? The rinsing out with mouthwash I believe is more beneficial!

MrsM might have 2 cavities entire life and I still get them and we both floss! My son rarely flosses and went to dentist a few months ago (1st time in probably 10 years) and had no cavities or issues! TG he has her teeth genes!

Same parallel as when I posted about the Flu Shot BS! Yes, I believe a flu shot is great for young children or old people in preventing from dying from the flu! Stopping you from getting it, NO WAY JOSE! Never had one and can't remember the last time I had the flu! MrsM had to get it one year cause of work and worst flu she ever had! Word!

I floss. I have to. I have a spot where food always collects and gets stuck. Like even if I am at the grocery store and I am wondering if the grapes on sale are any good - so I eat one - one grape - guaranteed, some shit will get stuck in that spot and stay there indefinitely - until some type of countermeasures are taken.

If I don't get it out of there, I will be driven mad.

So I floss that spot several times a day and generally at least once I will carry on and do the whole deck.

Here's what makes me a bit mental though: the hygienist always gets in my mouth and starts doing her thing - and at some point she inevitably asks if I floss.

I feel like if flossing makes any kind of important difference, an expert should be able to tell if I do it just by looking.
