Redwood stain semi-transparent so you can actually see the wood grain since the wood is brand new.

pressure treated?
if so you're not supposed to paint/stain it for at least 6 months...
seen some PT painted right after installing and the chemicals bleed through.

I;d say as long as its dried out good then you should be OK.
has it cupped, twisted, and checked yet?

I do know what checked means, but is is bowing and shit, it never got, basically a protective coat for the rain and shit.

Yes. I built it in March. You think is not dry after 3 months out in the sun? No it hasn't cupped yet. I will do one coat now and wait a few more weeks to do the second coat. What do you think?

personally, I think the whole waiting 6 months is BS.
I've been told from 6 months to a yr before painting....
but from real world situations I think once it has dried out good you shouldnt have a problem.

PT decks here look good for about a month and then decking boards shrink, cup, twist, etc... and look like shit.

I've waited about a month and then stained them ( only for family, I hate anything paint related) and havent has any problems...
except for the stain failing in less then a yr.

DO NOT USE THOMPSONS WATER SEAL OR ANY OF THE BOX STORE PRODUCTS.
look online for a professional grade stain if you dont want to be staining it every few months

I didn't stain it. Started cleaning it this morning and noticed the water wasn't being absorbed by the wood which means it's still wet. I will wait 3 more months so it will dry completely. Then I will use the Cabot Australian Timber Oil to stain it. Someone said it's really good.

Thanks for the tips Mike!
