The one area I have recent experience is front-line addiction workers. I sometimes speak at workshops for people who deal with addicts through their jobs. It is an above average looking profession. There are exceptions no doubt, but overall.

Very high female-to-male ratio. And I have to say, I meet a lot more people who are beautiful both inside and out than I do in an average slice of society.

I have spoken a few times to groups of students looking to get into social work and ohmygawd they are painfully attractive. Last time I spoke at McMaster University there were about 66 students, 63 of them female, 60 of them hawt. It was seriously crazy.

It is not a profession known for having a lot of money flying around.

some possibly interesting correlations here.

can it be said that people who are better looking or are nicer in some way get treated better and therefore have more faith/interest in others. Hence, they tend to gravitate towards some kind of social work... it's a stretch, I know

Not even gonna get into how many think Mudcat is their uncle's cool friend.

Reno, I would drop nicer from the correlations. Ugly folk are much friendlier, often too friendly. Pretty people are often times not to be bothered with. Ugly folk will talk your ear off and want to hug all up on ya while doing so.

Muddy maybe in Canada the social workers are attractive. Round these parts it's a Shrek convention.

You guys need to take a page out of my book.

You know that old creepy guy still hanging out at concerts and functions where nobody is over 30, and he's acting a fool, wearing an earring, jumping around like a bloated fool, not realizing that everyone is laughing at him behind his back?

Yea, that's me already. Sans the earring. That would just be queer.

Here in Socal we've got a lot of damn good looking gals. Matter of fact, I ran into one hottie I know when she didn't have her "war paint" on (at 3 am in a food store), and I was floored at how bad she looked. She pretended to not know me at the time, and acted later like it was not her.

Comparing notes with the guys at work, we came up with this: if a gal wants to look good, she'll work out to get the bod and spend money on makeup, hair, and clothes to move from the general 3-4 on a 10 pt scale to a 7-8. If she doesn't, she'll fall to the average of about a 3, which I think is the real average of women before they do something.

As for myself, I can go from a 2 to a 9 by grooming and dressing according to my GF...and she knows me best and maybe is only slightly biased.

Dutchie, you're still trying eh?

Not me, I turn 44 in a few weeks and I'm no longer interested in trying to impress the opposite sex - and I'm doing a stellar job so far.

Money is the answer, if I want something I either go buy it or rent it.

Pommer, I could give a shit...

...but the GF will NOT, repeat NOT tolerate my letting myself "go." So, I'm in the gym, I have a closet with more clothes than she (she shops with me, and makes sure I look good in whatever I buy). I even have to get fvking haircuts to her satisfaction...

...but when I look good, !Holy Jesus!, the sex is fine...whatever I want, whenever I want...and it ain't just sex: she watches football, or any sporting event I want, tolerates my gambling "hobby," goes to my work functions and impresses my bosses, and generally makes no demands on me except no other women and keeping myself in shape.

...BTW, she's a natural 9, I'm a natural 3...so...

Robyn is not a HR person, she's a one-man-business-and-office-manager-who-does-HR-cause-she-has-to. These people work in small companies and they are admirably overworked. I'm talking about the big bad Fortune 500 corporate world and 50-people HR departments here.

Correct. I am the Manager of Operations and it is my business to know a little bit of everything. Considering the economy, HR has been a huge focus, particularly here in Florida where everywhere you turn, a lawyer is telling you on a commercial or billboard that you can sue your employer for lights being out in the parking lot, terminating your employment in an at-will state (even if it was for good cause - stealing, not showing up for work - breaching policies), etc. ESPECIALLY if you are in a "protected category".

Americans are fucking lazy. People are looking to sue for everything humanly possible. Why get a job at Taco Bell when you can collect unemployment for a year and a half and complain that there aren't any jobs out there? I blame the unions, but I digress. Thankfully, I just hired an HR professional who can handle this nonsense for me.

hot girls spent a lot on make up and cloths. once a hot girl gets older, her spending on beauty products and cloths gets exponentially more expensive to compensate her aging looks.

young cute ones are the way to go.
