Ever have an epiphany? Like just out of the blue a realization hits you for no apparent reason at all and wakes you up or impacts your life in ways that you never thought possible?
Im sitting here in class on the last day of my training and BLAM! Like a bolt of lightening striking a tree in your front yard, I almost leaped out of my seat. It hit me that, I am an unattractive man sitting in a room filled with unattractive people.
Being an unattractive man wasnt the epiphany nor that the room is filled with the same. What struck me is that we all have the same type of job. We are all water and wastewater technicians, operators and supervisors.
So now I am wondering to myself and I start associating different types of jobs with persons appearances. Naturally models are typically beautiful or at least physically appealing type people so that was a given but what about other types of jobs.
Convenience store personnel are seldom attractive people. The make-up counter people at Dillards generally are. If youve ever been in a check cashing establishment the person cashing your check or floating you a payday loan is often not very attractive but you rarely see a really unattractive bank teller. For the most part police officers are decent in appearance yet a security officer much of the time looks like he just left his park bench to come to work. If a person works in HR (human relations) generally they are a very nice looking or even very attractive person but a social worker often times is average at best and generally leaning towards unattractive.
So Im now convinced that had I been a more attractive man I would make a better income. I mean look at the examples given and think about others not even mentioned and you can see that better looking people get better paying jobs through all walks of life not just entertainment.
Sure there are exceptions to the rule as with anything in life but it looks like there is a definite correlation.
Im certain this really isnt much of an epiphany and almost as certain there are probably studies to support what I am thinking about but still, I am sitting in a room full of ugly motherhunchers and I am one of them.
