It is not inconceivable that a lonely disgruntled young man might attempt to assassinate a high profile figure for no other reason than to be recognized, finally by the world. This would not be unprecedented. This has happened many, many times in the long arc of history. Every single major world event is not part of some grand conspiracy. Random events shape history all of the time.

Just my thoughts, folks.

Agree whole-heartedly on randomness and conspiracy theories. Could indeed be a deranged kid looking for recognition. It could be another simple explanation too; a radical sicko who hated Trump wanted to take him out.
 
Is the reason even remotely important though?

Do any of us think that politicians and the media will change how they react and speak about the people they don’t like?

Do any of us think that the public at hand will embrace love and change our ways?

Searching for a reason doesn’t do anything but feed the gossip machine which is the public at large.

Of course it isn't important, it's a sick and deplorable act regardless.

No, politicians, media, and people won't change their ways. So I do get and agree with your points. But two counterpoints:

1. It is human nature to look for patterns and reason despite randomness often being the answer. This is why conspiracy theories are so popular, trying to connect dots.

Blitty's point was simply that it isn't likely to be anything that advanced. I agreed with another alternative. I actually don't think either of us was "searching for a reason" or "feeding the gossip machine".

2. But even if we were, it is also human nature to be curious and to want to learn more. Does it matter why this sicko is a sicko? No. But I mean does anything matter? Not really. Human psyche and mental illness are interesting.

I agree with you that baselessly speculating doesn't do any good (and again I don't believe thats what either of us were doing), I'm big on waiting until the facts are in. There's nothing wrong with being curious about his motives though.

I didn’t mean to come across like Blitty or anyone was feeding into it. I was talking the public and media as a whole. The focus on the killer has been a lot more reported upon than the the people he hurt and or killed.
 
The shooter lived less than 3 miles from me. Definitely not the type of attention your town wants. My sister is a teacher in the district and I have several friends and acquaintances linked to the district. Apparently no one remembers him? It’s definitely an awful situation. The man killed was a volunteer firefighter and died protecting his family. I believe there must be change regarding our Secret Service and their abilities and lack of.. That entire tragedy could and should have been prevented..
