Thoughts on Hybrid/Electric Car movement

I drive a 3 cyl 1L gas engine car to commute to work. It does 40 miles a gallon and it costed less than 14K. There is no reason in spending 30K or more to buy electric. You will never get your money back. Also replacing or repairing the battery or motor will cost you thousands and in 10 years the technology they use now will be obsolete.

Probably would do this. Get 2 cars for the price of one electric. Too experimental with that new stuff! Anyone have a Hummer that needs replacement parts?

Fuck this. Gimme a v-8 with a freaking carburetor in it. something that I can work on if it needs it. I hate that for every little thing that goes wrong with your car these days you have to take it to a dealer because they have to hook it up to a computer in order to find out what is wrong.

Oh Ok. I just saw mattys post stating that it was in the same price range.

never understood the point of hybrids. The gas use difference is pretty small. My v6 does 30 miles per gallon.
Until the hybrids can do 70 mpg I don't think it's worth it.

I would hold out for a flying car.
