The nation of Russia was banned for having a state sponsored doping program in the last olympics. If individual athletes test clean they can compete as an OAR (Olympic Athlete from Russia). I guess the theory is clean athletes should not be punished for transgressions of thier nation state, I mean some of these kids were probably only 13-14 years old during sochi.

That makes sense. Did they not have enough clean players to field a hockey team?

Those Canada peoples have some good figure skaters.

Yes there will be a Russian hockey team, unfortunately as usual, one unworthy of it's Soviet heritage

you maybe too young Matty, but I remember Soviet teams of the 70's n 80's. Nhl ers or no Nhlers, Russian teams since, have been a huge disappointment. Not just result wise, but their Canada-light style of play :yak:. ...buy yeah, I'll try to watch, not overly excited though
