Padres Pitchers threw so many pitches last night (like 250+)

they called up a pitcher from their minor league system as a fresh arm in their pen

his name is Jason Lane, he once hit 26 HRs and OPS-ed .815 in 2005 for the Houston Astros as a starting Outfielder. His position playing career fizzeled shortly thereafter.

he worked his way from the independent ball as a pitcher through a few organizations AAA clubs and now back on a MLB roster for the first time since 2007

I hope he gets in tonight

It's not so much that Blue Jays 9-game win streak ended - but what a terrible way to do it . . .

Well let's see how they bounce back from that crapola.

And the answer to that has been - winning 4 of their next 5 including a just-completed sweep of Detroit at Comerica.

Keep expecting the bubble to burst - and I'm sure it will at some point - like, they won't keep playing .800+ ball like they have for their last 20-something games - but it's going mighty fine these days. They're not just beating up on weak sisters either. Tigers. Swept Boston at Fenway. Swept the A's.

Noice!

To be honest, I am totally expecting the roof to fall in on them. Toronto sports has been so appallingly bad for so long I guess it gets to be a state of mind.

Raptors have, what? - won 1 playoff series in their existence? Something like that? I'm not even a Leafs fan - just the opposite - but somehow their long-term, spectacular ineptitude weighs on me.

And of course the Jays themselves without a playoff appearance - or even a game that mattered after, like, August - in 20 years.

I am not quite goofy enough in the head to see the Argos' recent championship as any kind of legitimate counter argument.

Jays pitching is worrisome but they've been fun to watch lately so we'll see.

I understand people line up very early for these special promotions. Like they are there waiting when the gates open - like, an hour and a half before gametime - because there are only 20,000 or whatever and they don't want to miss out.

Me, I would not worry about it. When I think of my recent housecleaning exercise where I chucked so many bags of stuff, that bobblehead is a prime example of the sort of thing that would have got chucked.

So no, would not go out of my way.
