There was a ton of coolness being a Jays fan from about 1981 through those two World Serieses. Many would point to an Ed Sprague home run in the 1992 series as a bigger turning point for the franchise.

But obviously the Carter thing was pretty splashy.

Whatever, we had the highest payroll and the set attendance records left, right and center.

How we have become a small market team, I don't quite understand.
 
A lot of Toronto fans are mad at the Jays for not re-signing Melky Cabrera. The advanced thinking is, they should have done it mid-season instead of letting it get to this point where he has now signed elsewhere (White Sox) via free agency.

So they're mad at the Jays. They should have signed him.

I would have thought Melky would have some influence on whether or not a signing happened but apparently not.
