Any band that doesn't produce new material gets thrown into the "classic" bin, I s'pose. Only way to market them to kids.

Nirvana and Metallica will probably stand the test of time, whether or not they made you want to barf from the overexposure. I'm pretty sure that Led Zep, Pink Floyd et al. were also overplayed when they were active...

Why not? I don't agree that Depeche Mode, the Cure, or Duran Duran should be classic rock though. They are more electronic than rock in my opinion.

They're not classic "rock" for sure but Depeche Mode has sold over 100 million records worldwide so they're classic "something".

And while I agree it's at least weird that Master of Puppets is being played on a classic rock station it does fit the criteria somewhat. It's a really old song by a guitar orientated band.

Matt you're half gay how can you not like 80's shit? common. c'mon

anyway, let's not get into a debate over taste in music. that always goes nowhere.

I think XM Radio has a station that plays "New Classic Rock" or something like that. To cater to music that will stand the test of time but isn't Led Zep etc...

I think I had to turn fag cause hating 80's music is a big minus among females in my age group.

Note to self: discuss with therapist.

For one ticket? For some Canadian "prog rock" band whose singer sounds like a cat that's being castrated live? :lmao:

I was just driving home and listening to the local classic rock radio station. After the commercial, they played Master of Puppets by Metallica. I had to double-check the station to make sure, but sure as shit, they were playing Metallica on the "oldies" station. I had to puke in my mouth a little bit. Are we at a stage in time where late 80's and 90's music is played on the "oldies" station? To me, most of the music from that era is disposable music. It doesn't ever deserve to be "classic." Bands like Nirvana, Metallica, Guns n Roses, NIN, etc. were so commercialized and overplayed. Does this music really start replacing bands like the Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc.? If so, it's a cold day in Hell.

If Nirvana, GNR,NIN, etc.. are commercialized,
then what is KORN:propeller:
